Challenge
Based on shifts in the marketplace and internal strategy decisions, a pharmaceutical company needed to develop new skills among their Research Project Leaders. The leaders were highly trained technical professionals, but few of them had ever received any leadership training.

Solution
In partnership with KLS Consulting, the HR leader, and senior stakeholders did the following:

  • Developed a participative process to identify new competencies for research project leaders

  • Used a 360 assessment process developed by a third party to evaluate current skills

  • Created a 4 part training curriculum to build critical skills

  • Set up peer consulting teams so project leaders could apply key learning’s back on the job


Accelerating the speed of decision making in card services marketing

Finance

Challenge
A financial services firm known for its inclusive, highly collaborative culture, historically received overall employee survey and engagement results that are above the industry average. However, one dimension, speed of decision making, was consistently rated lower by employees. To respond to this frustration, the card services marketing team partnered with KLS Consulting to develop a decision-making framework to improve the speed and quality of decisions.

Solution
In partnership with key stakeholders, KLS Consulting did the following:

  • Created a decision-making framework and associated tools

  • Developed a highly flexible training curriculum that could be customized to meet the needs of leaders and employees

  • Designed a roll-out strategy to deliver the training to over 400 managers and employees

  • Created a toolkit that reinforced key skills and encouraged on-the-job application

Results
The decision-making framework became part of the client’s project management process, and is still being used over three years later
Employee survey results showed improvement on the decision-making dimension.
